2009 Recipient is Adrea Rubin
New York, NY, May 11, 2009 — The Direct Marketing Association’s (DMA) List & Data Council today announced the 2009 winner of its List Leader of the Year Award. The recipient is Adrea Rubin, chief executive officer, Adrea Rubin Marketing. The honor will be presented during a June 15 awards dinner in New York City during the 2009 DM Days New York Conference & Expo.
Fast Forward, the only executive workshop for list executives held at DMA’s Seminar Center, opens a day before DM Days, which runs June 16-18 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Following the Fast Forward workshop, DMA’s List & Data Council will host its annual List Leader of the Year Awards Dinner at Battery Gardens in New York City. Separate registration is required for both events.
“Our most prestigious awards always recognize commitment to change, which our honoree demonstrate,” said Jay Schwedelson, corporate vice president, Worldata, DMA List Leader Group Chairman, and member of the awards selection committee. “Adrea Rubin, being awarded the 2009 List Leader of the Year honor, has made countless contributions to our community.
2009 List Leader of the Year — Adrea Rubin
Chief Executive Officer, Adrea Rubin Marketing, Inc.
The List Leader of the Year Award annually honors an individual for outstanding contributions to the list and data community. Honorees must have at least 15 years of experience in the list and data profession and have contributed to improvements in one or more of the following areas: Ethics, education, list practices and standards, privacy issues, postal reform, communication, and environmental concerns.
Rubin began her direct marketing career in 1974 as the Direct Mail Marketing Association’s Insurance council administrator (DMIC). By 1976 she was already recruited by Direct Media to open their New York City branch office. After becoming the first-ever female member of the Direct Media Board, as well as one of the original shareholders, Rubin opened Adrea Rubin Marketing in 1990.
Recognizing the changes affecting the future of the list business, Rubin merged the concept of traditional list brokerage with the non-traditional use of compiled data. She pioneered the use of psychographic and demographic data to aid the traditional list community.
In 1992, Rubin created Adrea Rubin Management, Inc., and today, both firms embrace multichannel direct marketing. Rubin is a longstanding member of both DMA and the List Leaders Group, as well as the 2009 chairperson for Fast Forward.
